One thing to keep an eye on when assuming a natural regression to the mean for the Rays offense in clutch situations. Their lineup has an absurd amount of swing and miss in it, and not just hitters who “go big or go home,” but even some hitters who just have terrible plate discipline. If pitchers know that they can get away with expanding the strike zone when they most need an out, I could see their struggles with men on base continuing in 2017.
